Explain the key factors that have allowed Canada to enjoy such a high standard of living compared to nations in the developing world. Your answer must refer to both Canada and the developing world. Global communications, space exploration, and international events are just some of the things that formed the interconnected web between nations and sped up globalization. However, as much as we like to think that the world is making progress, there is still the undeniable fact that some countries citizens are much better off and enjoy a higher standard of living than compared to the people of other nations. Canada, geographically, is the second largest country and home to a tremendous amount of resources. The entire country of Canada is basically scattered reservoirs of resources. In Alberta, there are huge reserves of oil and in BC, lumber is a booming industry. Mining in Ontario and fishing in the Maritime Provinces are just some more examples of abundance of resources. Manufac turing is also an industry that contributes to the Canadian economy, and ultimately, to Canadian wealth. In many developing nations, their economy is not even industrialized; they have no means of making any goods to sell internationally. Furthermore, many developing nations to not have the resources like Canada, and the resources that they do have might be in little or zero demand. As a result, the developing world does not have a natural reservoir of resources nor can they industrialize to make goods. The end result is zero wealth and a very poor economy. The status of women and children is an important factor in determining the standards of living in a country. Women have enormous potential as both thinkers and hands-on workers. They can contribute in different ways to help better their countries. But yet, many countries take on patriarchy stance and suppress the women, effectively cutting the country’s workforce in half.
